We had no plans today, because we assumed we would be tired from the long flight and the time change. We slept in super late (we definitely should have set an alarm) and then went out looking for food.
After breakfast, we walked just around the corner to some ancient ruins that were just in the middle of a bunch of modern streets. It’s famous for having a large cat colony, although the cat sanctuary there has done a lot of tnr to reduce the population.
Then we walked over to the Pantheon. It was insane how this really old monument was just in the city, next to a jewelry store and a gelato shop.
After the Pantheon, we walked back toward our place, planning to stop for groceries, cheese and gelato. We walked by a church and popped in to check it out. It was just a random corner church, but it was stunning.
We stopped at the supermarket, and it was fun to explore the different foods they had. And it was built into some kind of cavern which was cool.
The cheese shop was so much fun! He gave us a bunch of samples and we bought more cheese than we need. But Liam will eat it for sure.
We took our groceries back home, then went for gelato. They had so many flavors! Some were definitely different from what we have at home, like chocolate wasabi and pears with cheese. I got pistachio and toasted almonds.
Now we’re back at our place. Tomorrow we go to Pompeii!
