Friday started out rainy, but we decided not to let that keep us in. We planned to snorkel but learned that the beach we were heading for was closed due to high surf. So we just explored the pier and went back home for lunch and River’s nap and time in the pool.

After lunch, we hopped in the car and went to the forest. Our guide book wanted us that we either needed mosquito repellant or and extra pint of blood for the hike, so we applied it liberally.

The hike was an adventure, and grandma decided not to attempt it. The trails were wet and very slippery. Everything was green around us and we could hear a lot of birds all around us. As we approached the falls, we could hear the crashing water.

The falls were impressive. There were some local kids jumping off and landing in the pool below. Liam really wanted to try, but we told him that there was a 100% chance of no. It required serious climbing of wet slippery rocks to get out.
We had to go home to clean up and change before dinner. We drive to Hanalei. Our guide book said that chicken in a barrel had some of the best chicken on the island. They were right!
